Sage Taylor is back for another release on the label, this time bringing Space Ambient to you. Distant Constellation is a collection of Drones from his 404? days and features an unreleased tune as the title track of the album. Floating away into space is what you’ll be feeling, but at the same time a sense of melody while very slow and some great ambiance to go along with it. If you’re a fan of any of the previous Drone releases, you’ll be sure to love this album from a true master.
The 3rd entry in the Droning series centers around the theme of water. This time around though we have 2 songs instead of a single song that happened in the earlier releases. Louigi says the theme of water brought these 2 tracks together for this release and also says that whatever kind of water it makes you think of is all up to you. So relax with these 2 pieces of floating music centered around water.
With the first release in the EX series comes a release to compliment the 14th release on our label, DW/TB: Split EP. 4 remixes from artists such as Blue Neptune, Cristiano Campos, Louigi Verona and the other man on the original release, Textural Being, turn Dub Techno tracks into smooth House Music and Ambient Dub. If you liked the 3 tracks from DeepWarmth on the original release, you will love the remixes.
Kasstedy makes his debut on CFM with a great Chillout/Downtempo release. A very unknown artist, this release will get you wanting more from him. His use of atmosphere and beats is almost perfect. Throw in some soothing voice work as well and even a little bit of a MLK Jr. speech on the first track and you can see he’s got the chillout music down very well. If you are into any sort of Downtempo this album is for you. To sum up what you get on the album, its Soothing Voice work going over great Ambient Atmospheres and Trip-Hop drum lines.
Our latest release on the label comes from new artist Sck, who brings us a spacey deep techno release. The feel of the release is best summed up by Sck himself:
I was always attracted to something cosmic, mysterious and unattainable in our world. I tried to convey my thoughts and feelings into music. I suggest to listen and to think about issues such as … Are we alone in the universe? Who besides us? Welcome to the unknown …….Welcome to cosmo…….
SecondFace makes his mark on the label with his first release – an Ambient release that floats from start to finish. The album starts off with Nightfall (Down Remix) that just melds great melodies with a spacey mood and adds in drums towards the end. This track is the only one with drums though. The rest give you a feeling of going through space and landing on a planet just in time for Winter. If you have loved any of our past Ambient releases, this one is for you. An album you should not miss.
Louigi Verona returns to the label with his second entry in the Droning series. A long floating piece of Ambient music, this is a tune to get lost in. A single tune that doesn’t feel like it rushes to the end, nor does it feel like you’re never wanting the tune to end. If you liked other releases from Louigi on the label, you’ll be in love with this second entry in the Droning series.
Chronos: The Battle For is a 10 track album that is designed to be a soundtrack sampler for a fictional RPG. The project was inspired by the game Pier Solar and The Great Architects. The album starts off with the quiet and moody piano track Lumi, and then goes into an acoustic guitar and strings track Explorers in The Forest. The album is a great Ambient album to relax to, and should remind you of the olden days of RPGs. A great album for lovers of Ambient and video games.
Louigi Verona returns to the label for another release, this time starting off a series of releases entitled Droning. Droning is an ongoing project to produce a great number of drone recordings of praiseworthy duration and extreme static nature. It is also intentionally positioned in no particular way. It is not announced as a work of art, nor it is presented as not a work of art. In fact, the only thing said about “droning” is that it is a project to create certain type of audio recordings. What you get are those audio recordings. How you use them and how you understand them is up to you.
A Chance of Weather is the first album that lilmanjs started work on back in late 2009. The album features 12 tracks of IDM and Ambient music, as it was designed to be half IDM and half Ambient to flow very nicely. You can see how far lilmanjs came in music making just by listening from start to finish – from his first track ever, Blue Skies Turning Grey, to later tracks like Interlude (Sky Guitar) and Peacefull Weekend. The album ends with the epic 15 minute track Lakeside Reflections In Spring (Winter into Spring Mix). The album should please both Ambient lovers and IDM lovers.
Kogyo brings us deep Ambient soundscapes that are sure to please anyone who likes Ambient music. Flowing synths and pads with strings in a few parts meld to create soothing music that any Ambient music lover can like. Songs like Dark Space and Cassini bring about a slightly darker side to the music but it all ends with a light, strings filed track named Ringsjon.
After months of planning and hard work, Cold Fiction Music’s third V.A. compilation arrives. Futur[e]cho began as an idea after the unexpected positive response of the first entirely dub-oriented release on the label: the DeepWarmth/Textural Being Split EP. Originally the idea of collecting people to work on a deep, dubby techno compilation album seemed too big for the scope of the label, but over time not only was the idea refined, but now the eight-month-long project is at an end, and the results are surprisingly good. The compilation, presented for your listening pleasure, features 11 notable artists in the present-day dubby, technoid scene. Coppice Halifax, Anton Mayer, Soap, Dublicator, Spiral Dub, Textural Being, ISA, DeepWarmth, As If, Spaceci and Fingers in the Noise all contribute works of art to the compilation, giving the final product a deep, ambient quality that was never anticipated when the idea was still just an idea.
Chrome Rainbow’s debut album “Beside Yourself” makes its way to Cold Fiction Music. This album is made worth listening to through the use of rhodes, piano, synths, drums, and other various instruments. Lilmanjs and Sage Taylor worked in collaboration with Chrome Rainbow on two of the songs in this release.
lilmanjs returns with an all new EP, his first with beats. Retro Introspective is a brand new Jazzy IDM release from lilmanjs. Features Rhodes, Sax, Jazz bass sound and somewhat crazy drums. The EP was created over a year and was crafted to meld IDM and Jazz sounds and add in a lilmanjs touch.
Eight months after the split EP with DeepWarmth, Textural Being makes a return trip to Cold Fiction Music with an EP of all new tracks. The tone here is similar to the tracks from the split, but more careful attention to detail and composition was spent on the tracks in this EP, resulting in something denser and darker that listeners can really get lost in. A small, four track bonus EP is included with the release, containing tracks by AXS, Zzzzra, Anton Mayer and Blamstrain, re-envisioned by Textural Being. The original version of Zzzzra’s track stop by Entropy Records can be heard here: https://entropyrecords.bandcamp.com/album/zzzzra-obehixa-2
